Individual links can be added to an existing roller chain to extend its length or replace a worn link. Offset links, also called half links, consist of one roller and one pin, and are used to shorten or lengthen a chain by 1 pitch. Offsets are often used for chains with an odd number of links. Connecting links are used to join two chain ends.
