Rivets are smooth cylidrical fasteners used to join objects. They consist of a shaft with a head on one end and an unheaded tail. On installation, the rivet is inserted into a hole and the tail is deformed and smashed flatter to create a new "head" on the tail end. This casues the rivet to lock in and fasten the materials together.
