Self-drilling screws are efficient because they eliminate the need for a pilot hole, tap their own threads, and fasten materials in a single operation. The truss head has a curved surface, extra-wide profile, and a lower profile than most pan head screws. The extra-wide top helps prevent the screw from going through the drilled surface. The 6-lobe drive, commonly referred to as Torx, has six points of contact allowing the operator to tighten the screw without stripping the recess. Zinc plated steel offers good corrosion resistance in applications not exposed to excessive moisture.
