Also known as TEK screws, self-drilling screws have points that act like a drill-bit which allows the screw to drill, tap, and fasten in a single operation. Self-drilling screws are economical and efficient as they reduce labor time and reduce the need for drill bits. There are two main types of self-drilling screws: Type BSD and CSD. Type BSD are tapping screws featuring spaced threads and is recommended to be used with soft wood, composition board, and metal. Type CSD are thread forming screws with a machine screw thread pitch which reduces the driving torquee and is recommended to be used with thicker materials.
