Self-drilling screws are efficient because they eliminate the need for a pilot hole, tap their own threads, and fasten materials in a single operation. The flat undercut head is similar to the standard flat head but has a shorter head, providing the screw with a longer thread than a standard flat head screw of the same length. The phillips drive has a cross-shaped indent for use with a Phillips screwdriver. Zinc plated steel offers good corrosion resistance in applications not exposed to excessive moisture.
