Self-drilling screws are efficient because they eliminate the need for a pilot hole, tap their own threads, and fasten materials in a single operation. The truss head has a curved surface, extra-wide profile, and a lower profile than most pan head screws. Modified truss heads have extra flange around the outside of the head which increases the bearing force. The phillips drive has a cross-shaped indent for use with a Phillips screwdriver. 18-8 stainless steel, also commonly known as 304 or A2 stainless steel, has good chemical resistance and may be mildly magnetic.
