Carriage bolts feature a square or ribbed neck underneath the head of the fastener and a round head for smooth surface finishes. Carriage bolts are used to bond wood to wood, wood to metal, and sometimes metal to metal. The flat head features a conical head and flat top, and it is countersunk for a smooth, flush surface.
